VACATION TIME

The Movie Slut is on vacation. Sort of. She's actually writing other stuff. But that doesn't mean she's not going to the movies.

Here's what to see and what to flee.

SEE:
Captain American: The First Avenger: An old-fashioned summer superhero flick that takes time to develop characters. And you've got to love the villain, a skeletal-faced evil-doer with a John Boehnor tan.

Friends with Benefits: Witty, slick with major chemistry between Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. You'll have lotsa fun, but in the morning you may be sorry you saw it.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2. If you're a Pottermaniac, by all mean break out your flying stick and zoom to the multiplex to see this flick. Otherwise, flee as fast as your muggle legs will carry you.

Bad Teacher: Cameron Diaz is hilarious as the teacher you never had, but wished you did. Justin Timberlake is a riot as the rich nerd in her conniving cross hairs. If you've ever been a teacher, and MS has, you'll recognize the characters on the screen and laugh even louder.

Beginners: In the true independent film mold, this movie gives us unconventional characters struggling through life. It's a downer, really. (Even with the extravagantly adorable canine.)Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Terri: Another independent flick with characters you might glimpse at Stop&Shop but never see navigating your circles. If only this were a TV drama. Think The Wonder Years updated with an obese Fred Savage.

FLEE:
Horrible Bosses: Not so horrible, really. But MS can't let you think she's so indiscriminate that nothing's on her --it list. And maybe she's not all that objective considering the staggering number of horrible bosses who befouled her working days. But then, can any movie with Kevin Spacey be that bad?
