McQueen: Feirce Fashion

Less is more is a design philosophy eschewed by Alexander McQueen.
It's also a concept ignored by the filmmakers who brought us the new documentary about the iconoclastic British designer.

Did the Movie Slut love it? Well, almost. But then, she's a ferocious fashionista. Runway parades are right up there with flicks as a favorite pastime.

As for those who might grow tired of seeing cloth transforming to art, you can skip this one.

McQueen's career, cut short by his suicide in 2010 at the age of 40, had some Everestian moments. He became head designer at the iconic Givenchy atelier. There was a posthumous exhibition at the prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art. He had runway shows that took the breathe away.

"I want you to feel repulsed or exhilarated," he said of his shows.

Sadly, in an attempt to be an encyclopedic historical account, rather than an entertaining documentary film, this movie does neither.
