On Chesil Beach: Sex, Love, and ?

On Chesil Beach is a movie brave enough to take on the Beatles.
"Love is all you need," the Fab Four sang in 1967.
But in this movie, set in 1962 England, it's clear Florence (Saorise Ronan) and Edward (Billy Howle) are young and in love. And yet their marriage lasts only six hours before it self-destructs.

Most movie critics said their problem was sex. They were young and lacking in experience. MS isn't buying it. Not for a minute. What destroyed their union was much more complex. And she's still working out exactly what it was.

On Chesil Beach is also a movie creative enough to mingle the music of Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, and Berry, as in Chuck. The score is infinitely enriching.

This flick, based on a novella by Ian McEwan, is not "merry and bouncy," as Florence, a classical violinist, described Berry's music. It's more like Mozart's String Quintet in D major, which she calls a piece of music that asks many questions.

Which pretty much describes this film, too.
